Who Needs an FSSAI State License?

Food business operators (FBOs) like restaurants, manufacturers, transporters, retailers, caterers, and storage units with a turnover above ₹12 lakhs but below ₹20 crores must obtain this license. Additionally, businesses involved in the daily handling of 500-50,000 liters of milk or producing up to 2 MT (Metric Tons) of food per day fall under this category.

Documents Required

To apply for the license, FBOs must submit the following:

Proof of business address

• ID proof of the proprietor/partners
• List of food products
• Food safety management plan
• NOC from local authorities

How to Apply

The application process is online through the FSSAI portal (https://foscos.fssai.gov.in/). Businesses need to fill in details, upload documents, pay the fees (ranging from ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 per year), and wait for inspection and approval.
